Seven years in prison for man who kidnapped and assaulted two people in drug deal

The Court of Aveiro sentenced a 32-year-old man who kidnapped and assaulted a girl and a boy to a maximum legal sentence of seven years in prison over drug-related disputes.

The defendant, who is in pre-trial detention, was convicted of the crimes of robbery, kidnapping, simple bodily harm, illegitimate access, minor trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon.

The defense lawyer has already announced that he will appeal the decision.

The complaint from the Public Ministry (MP) states that the accused sold cocaine and marijuana to a number of individuals not specifically determined in the municipality of Aveiro, having kidnapped and assaulted two consumers.

The most violent episode occurred in the early hours of March 1st, when the accused attacked and robbed a boy who had gone to buy drugs at his home, suspecting that he had stolen drugs.

The MPF complaint states that the victim, under threat of a knife, was forced to undress completely and defecate in the bathroom, while the accused struck her legs with a whip.

According to the investigation, the accused kept the victim, against his will, locked in that residence, completely naked, for almost four hours.

During this period, the accused also ordered the offended party to give him the code to access the “homebaking” application that was on his cell phone and viewed his bank statement.

Taking advantage of a distraction from the accused, the victim managed to escape completely naked and went to ask for help at a PSP police station, leaving his clothes and objects in the house, including a cell phone, a “power bank” and a wallet with two bank cards, all worth total of 630 euros.
