The right app on your smartphone will inform you about impending bad weather, thunderstorms, storms or hail. Ideally, the severe weather warning will be displayed via push notification, so you don’t even have to open the app to check.
You can also find other useful information in such apps. For example, they show the next rain front on the rain radar, give allergy sufferers information about pollen levels and inform hobby gardeners about the amount of precipitation.
DWD WarnWetter and the alternatives
In Germany, most severe weather warnings come from the German Weather Service (DWD). Almost all apps focus on disseminating the reports issued by this national meteorological service. And the DWD now also has its own app, WarnWetter (free with in-app purchase for 2.49 euros), in the Apple App Store and up Google Play provided.
