Shazam aggiorna l’app con i Music Haptics su iOS 18

Shazam, the music recognition app acquired by Apple in 2018, has just released an update that introduces support for the new feature Music Haptics on iOS 18. This update marks a further step in the ever-closer integration between Shazam and the Apple ecosystem, particularly with Apple Music.

What are Music Haptics?

The function Music Haptics use the Taptic Engine iPhone to sync vibrations and taps with the audio of a song that’s playing in Apple Music, Apple Music Classical and now also in Shazam. Basically, while listening to a song via Shazam or Apple Music, you will feel slight vibrations that follow the rhythm of the music, creating a more immersive connection between you and the song.

This new feature is available on all iPhone starting with the iPhone 12 series, excluding theiPhone SE third generation, and requires a connection to a Wi-Fi or cellular network. You can enable Music Haptics directly in the Settings of the device, under the heading Accessibility ➝ Music haptic feedback.

Since Apple acquired Shazam, it has been working steadily to integrate the app with Apple Music. This includes the ability to automatically sync “Shazamed” songs to Apple Music, and even offer free trials of the music streaming service through the app. Now, with the addition of Music Hapticsthe integration is even deeper, offering a unified and optimized user experience for Apple Music users.

It is important to note that the Music Haptics They don’t work on Shazam for songs linked to Spotifywhich clearly reflects Apple’s strategy to promote its music streaming service.

Even if you don’t have Shazam installed on your iPhone, iOS 18 still offers support for Music Recognition directly from Control Center. Just add the option in the Control Center settings, and you can recognize songs at any time with a simple tap, without having to open an external app.
