She looks divine! The Xiaomi Mix Flip has a giant external display and top-notch cameras

Xiaomi has finally unveiled its first clamshell foldable phone. The Mix Flip model comes with some interesting gadgets and will try to compete with established players like Samsung or Motorola. Let’s see what’s new.

It catches your eye right away 4.01-inch external AMOLED display. It’s currently the largest in its class – beating the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra’s 4-inch panel by a margin and significantly surpassing the 3.4-inch display of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6. Xiaomi calls it “All Around Liquid” and you can run on it full apps or use widgets. Of course, it also has a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. The interesting thing is that the external display has own headphone speaker and microphone. So you can make phone calls without having to open the phone. Finally someone thought of it!

After opening the phone, it is waiting for you 6.86-inch flexible AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1224 x 2912 pixels. Here, too, we find a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. At its peak, Jas can shoot up to 3000 rivetswhich is a value that no other clam can yet boast.

When closed, the Mix Flip measures 74 x 74 x 16 mm, and when opened it stretches to 167.5 x 74 x 7.6 mm. The weight varies between 190 and 192 grams depending on the chosen variant.

Cameras with the Leica stamp

Xiaomi bet on proven cooperation with the German Leica. Main The 50 Mpx sensor has an aperture of f/1.7 and optical stabilization. Thanks to the mechanical hinge, you can use the cameras at any angle between 45° and 135°, which is ideal for selfies, and the structure can also be used as a tripod.

The latest ticks under the hood Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which complements up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. A steam chamber with an area of ​​3500 mm² takes care of cooling. The battery has capacity 4780 mAh, which is a really decent value for a clam. Support is also a pleasure 67W HyperCharge fast charging. But don’t look for wireless charging.

Connectivity and software

Mix Flip supports the latest Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and of course 5G networks. There is also NFC for contactless payments, an infrared port for controlling home appliances and support for a number of satellite navigation systems including GPS, Galileo or GLONASS. The phone runs on the latest Android 14 with the HyperOS superstructure from Xiaomi, but the Chinese company kept the length of support to itself.

Price and availability

The Mix Flip starts in China at a price of 5,999 yuan (about 19,000 CZK) for the variant with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The top variant with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage costs 7,299 yuan (approx. 23,000 CZK). There will be black, white, purple and a special nylon fiber edition.
Unfortunately, as is usual with Xiaomi, we do not yet know if and when the phone will reach the global market, including the Czech Republic. We can only hope that this time Xiaomi will make an exception and present the Mix Flip here as well.
