Shock and disgust: Havertz’s pregnant wife receives threatening messages after Arsenal’s ban

Arsenal striker Kai Havertz’s wife has shared footage of the abuse she received on social media following Sunday’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester United (on penalties), including threats against the couple’s unborn child.

The 25-year-old Germany international missed a great chance to win the game for the Gunners in normal time, while his penalty was then saved by United goalkeeper Altai Baydir in the process, where United prevailed 5-3 after tied 1-1.

Havertz’s wife, Sophia, posted on her Instagram story two sickening messages she received. Arsenal have reported the abuse to the police and are working with a specialist data firm to try to identify those responsible.

“For someone to think it’s okay to write something like that is so shocking to me. I hope you are so ashamed of yourself,” she wrote as she shared one of the messages. In another she added: ‘I’m not sure what to say but please guys be more respectful. We are better than that.”

The couple have been together since 2018 and tied the knot last year, with Sofia announcing in November that she was pregnant.
