During a conference call with journalists, Shoigu drew attention to the fact that the Ukrainian army suffered losses in the amount of at least 16,000 soldiers and over 400 units of equipment during May. In addition, he reported on the achievements of Russian forces, which were able to intercept and destroy 196 HIMARS missile systems, 16 HARM missiles and 29 Storm Shadow cruise missiles, stated Meduza server.
The Ukrainian side did not comment on Shoigu’s statement.
Earlier this month, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it had destroyed a Patriot missile system located in Kyiv on the night of May 15. However, on May 18, the Pentagon said the system had been fixed. So it was not a serious damage.
According to authorities in the capital, Kyiv has been attacked by Russian forces a total of 17 times since the beginning of May.
