Shure introduces MV7i microphone with 2-channel interface

Shure has introduced the MV7i microphone with an integrated interface. Equipped with first-ever patented technology, the MV7i allows simultaneous recording of two channels in a snap. It sets a new standard of flexibility for podcasting, streaming and home recording. A second XLR microphone or musical instrument (keyboard, guitar, etc.) can be connected directly to the MV7i, eliminating the need for an external hardware interface. The RRP is €389.

Both audio channels can be controlled either in the MOTIV app via computer or smartphone or with any digital audio workstation (DAW) and the app. The powerful, integrated DSP (Digital Signal Processor) automatically ensures studio-quality sound on both channels and reduces production effort. The settings for both channels of the MV7i can also be adjusted independently

Simplified admission process

“Whether you want to record a podcast with a guest or record vocals and instruments at the same time in your home studio, you need technology that simplifies the workflow,” says Eduardo Valdes, AVP of Global Marketing and Product Management at Shure. And continues: “The MV7i delivers the same sound as the MV7+ while streamlining the creative process. It saves additional costs and the hassle of confusing setups. We take care of the technology so that users can concentrate entirely on their creativity. By combining the legendary audio quality of our microphones with an integrated interface, we reduce complexity while maintaining professional standards – all in one elegant solution.”

Model Shure SM7B

Inspired by the legendary Shure SM7B, the MV7i also features a robust metal housing that guarantees durability and reliability. A second microphone or an instrument can be connected via the combination socket for XLR and 6.3 mm jack. The integrated interface delivers 60 decibels of gain and 48 volts of phantom power, making it compatible with both dynamic and condenser microphones. The MV7i immediately recognizes which input is being used and automatically selects the appropriate DSP for recording.

The USB-C output ensures wide compatibility with Mac, Windows and select mobile devices and is MFi certified for use with iPhone and iPad. The color-customizable LED touch panel allows for intuitive muting and also displays the levels of both channels, simplifying settings during recordings and live streams. The MV7i is compatible with every digital audio workstation and streaming platform.

Complete package for content creators

“Content creators no longer need a separate interface. The MV7i combines everything in a practical complete package, is space-saving and can be used without prior audio knowledge,” says Eduardo Valdes. Shure highlights four functions for the MV7i as “Features & Benefits”:

Auto Level Mode with SmartGate: Automatically adjusts gain based on proximity, speech volume and room acoustics for clear, uninterrupted recordings. SmartGate works with auto-level mode and dynamically reduces the volume of a channel when there is silence. Crosstalk is minimized while ensuring that simultaneous conversations do not interfere with the separate audio streams.

Real-time denoiser: Actively reduces ambient noise, ideal for podcasting and home recording.

Digital Popper Stopper: Removes harsh plosive noises and ensures clear sound without physical pop protection.

Adjustable reverb: Offers three reverb effects to choose from with adjustable intensity, perfect for a variety of recording environments.

MOTIV Mix Desktop-App

The full potential of the MV7i can be used via the MOTIV Mix app. It allows customization of the LED touch panel, access to up to five multitrack recording and routing channels, as well as fine adjustments such as sound signature, gain and more. Three initial configurations are available at launch:

Mixdown-Modus: Combines the signals from the microphone and mono inputs into a mono track – perfect if you want something quick and without additional post-processing.

Multi-Track-Modus: Plays two separate mono audio tracks: one for the microphone and one for the XLR/1/4″ jack input. This is ideal if you want both tracks to remain separate for further editing.

Stereo Mode: Combines the microphone and stereo input signals into a stereo track. The stereo audio of the input signal is retained, the signal from the microphone is distributed to the left and right channels. Best for voiceovers with stereo audio in the background.
