Siemens Digital Industries Software expanded its collaboration with Microsoft to make its cloud-based product engineering software NX X available through Microsoft’s Azure cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) platform, integrating it with generative AI and copilot features. Siemens will deliver NX X software on Azure so organizations can take advantage of Microsoft’s AI tools.

At the same time, they will have access to enterprise-grade security combined with Siemens product engineering software.

The move follows the announcement earlier this year that Siemens’ Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software Teamcenter X was offered on Azure.

Provisioning NX X through Azure

NX X provides product engineering as a service capabilities for advanced 3D product engineering. NX X provides centralized cloud license management, configuration and provisioning capabilities while simplifying IT requirements. NX X integrates with Azure cloud services, giving you the flexibility to install NX X directly on desktops or access it through virtual desktop solutions, including Azure Virtual Desktop, when needed.

Enhancing NX X with Artificial Intelligence

Siemens’ NX product engineering software will leverage the power of Phi-3, part of Microsoft’s family of small language models, enabling users to ask natural language questions, access technical insights and streamline complex design tasks. With advanced capabilities such as search-augmented generation and domain-specific language, the modified AI model enables users to ask questions in natural language, access detailed technical insights, and streamline complex design tasks.

The new AI feature of NX X builds on the AI features in NX X by recommending solutions based on best practices, generating code to automate design tasks, and finding problem areas, all with natural human-like interaction.
