The Ministry of Defense confirmed the writing of “Vijesti” that the commercial contract for the procurement of two patrol ships for the needs of the Navy of the Army of Montenegro was signed in Paris, at the Maritime Defense Industry Fair “Euronaval”.
The Ministry announced that the line minister Dragan Krapović is attending the fair at the invitation of his French colleague Sebastien Lekornia.
It is added that Krapović discussed with Sebastien the bilateral cooperation between Montenegro and France in the field of defense and modalities for its further improvement.
It is emphasized that in the presence of Krapović and Lekorni, the protocol exchange of signatures of the Commercial Agreement with the company “Kership” on the procurement of patrol boats was also arranged, the Mina agency reports.
“This procurement represents an important step for the further modernization of the national naval capacities and so far the largest project within the framework of the cooperation between Montenegro and France in the field of defense,” the announcement says.
According to reports, Krapović and Lekornije discussed further plans for the modernization of the Army of Montenegro, the current security situation, as well as the contribution of Montenegro and France to the collective security system.
It is stated that Krapović and Lekornije concluded that Montenegro and France foster high-quality bilateral defense cooperation, which is based on mutual support among allies.
“Which represents an excellent basis for providing an adequate response to the security challenges faced by the international community,” the MOD said.
They explained that “Euronaval” is one of the most globally significant events in the field of naval defense, which brings together European and international companies whose focus is technological innovation and modernization of naval and naval equipment.
During his visit to the Fair, Krapović got acquainted with the offers of international exhibitors and leaders in the production of high-tech equipment in the maritime industry, intended for the protection of maritime areas and the preservation of safety at sea.
