Silent Hill 2 Remake receives a patch that adds frame generation and improves performance

Bloober Team did a good half-hearted job with Silent Hill 2 Remake. As a remake it is a good game, because it remains faithful to the essence of the original, it has good graphics and an excellent setting, but technically it has things that could be very improved, among which stand out its poor performance and stuttering.

Low performance and stuttering are two problems that are deeply linked to Unreal Engine 5, and that require important optimization work so that they do not bother the player in the final version of the game. Bloober Team did not finish doing its job well in this sense, that is evident.

Luckily, Bloober Team has finished doing that job which was “forgotten” at the time of the game’s launch, and has done so with a new patch that adds frame generation through NVIDIA DLSS 3, and also allows us to activate NVIDIA Reflex to counteract the latency of said technology.

The patch updates AMD FSR technology to version 3.1.1, an option has been introduced to activate as well frame generation under FSR 3.1and in theory performance has been improved and stuttering has been reduced. If you have a Steam Deck I also have good news, and that is that this patch has introduced specific optimizations and performance improvements for the Valve console.

With this update some problems are also corrected important that affected the game both at the interface and playability level and on the technical level. For example, some graphical errors that occurred when using the latest version of NVIDIA DLSS have been resolved, as well as certain errors that prevented access to certain areas.

A fairly complete and important patch that brings much-needed improvements and optimizations that the game should have already brought at the time of its releasebut you know how it is, developers have gotten used to releasing a half-baked game on which they then apply patches as if they were sewing a tablecloth from scraps.

Keep in mind that although this patch reduces stuttering in Silent Hill 2 Remake it does not seem to eliminate it completely, so we will have to wait for another future patch. This problem is very annoying because produces a stutter in the image which makes the game not run smoothly even if it runs at more than 60 frames per second.
