If you opt for a SIM-only subscription with unlimited internet, you will never have to keep an eye on your bundle again. You can use the internet as much as you want, without incurring extra costs because you have gone outside your bundle. We tell you about the providers who offer this and sort them by price.
Compare SIM only with unlimited internet
A SIM-only subscription with unlimited internet gives you a lot of freedom. This is because it is usually cheaper than a telephone with a subscription. There are more providers to choose from, including a number of discounters.
If you want a subscription with unlimited data, you have fewer options. In the Netherlands there are four providers that offer it, including of course the big three: Odido, KPN and Vodafone.
In addition, there is a discount provider that offers the subscription a lot cheaper in the form of Budget Mobiel. Below we will tell you in detail about the differences between the providers.
Provider | €/month | Number of calling minutes | Duration | ||
1. | Budget Mobile | €18,75 | Unlimited | 2 years | View deal |
2 | Odi | €25,00 | Unlimited | 2 years | View deal |
3. | KPN | €26,50 | 150 calling minutes/text message | 2 years | View deal |
4. | Vodafone | €30,00 | Unlimited | 2 years | View deal |
I want a subscription with unlimited internet from…
1. Budget Mobile: cheapest, but with limitations
The cheapest SIM-only subscription with unlimited data can be found at Budget Mobiel. It is the only budget carrier that offers this option, but there are limitations that you must take into account. Unlimited here means that you get 4GB per day. This is enough for most people, but may not be if you plan to use your mobile data for gaming.
Budget Mobiel’s internet speed is 100 Mbit/s, except for the unlimited bundle. It is only 5 Mbit/s. So this is definitely something to keep in mind. Budget Mobiel uses KPN’s reliable 5G network and you also have unlimited calling as standard.
There is currently a promotion that makes it even cheaper. You pay 15 euros per month for the first nine months, after which you will pay the normal price of 21 euros per month. This brings you to one average monthly price of 18.75 euros. If you have fixed internet from Budget Thuis at home, you will benefit from the combination benefit and pay 17.19 euros per month.
If we look at the major providers, Odido has the most affordable subscription with unlimited internet. The main advantage is that you have different options for internet speed. The cheapest bundle is Unlimited Start, which delivers a speed of 20Mbit/s 25 euros per month.
It is also possible to opt for Unlimited Basic (400Mbit/s), which costs you 32.50 euros per month. From the Plus subscription it becomes completely fun. In addition to a maximum download speed of 700Mbit/s, you can choose one free extra. The options include HBO Max, Videoland and Viaplay. Unlimited Plus costs you 37.50 euros per month.
If you are a gamer, it is useful to choose the fastest option: this gives you a maximum of 1Gbit/s for 49.50 euros per month. In addition, you can choose no fewer than three extras with this subscription. Odido customers at home receive up to 7.50 euros discount on their bundle and a further 5 euros discount on home internet.
3. KPN: choose your internet speed and easily share MBs
At KPN you also choose your own internet speed. Here you have three options. The cheapest is Unlimited50 with a maximum internet speed of 50Mbit/s. You pay for this subscription 26.50 euros per month. Would you prefer faster internet? Then you go for Unlimited300, which gives you a speed of 300Mbit/s for 31.50 euros per month.
Do you want it as quickly as possible? Then SuperUnlimited is the right choice for you. For 31.50 euros per month you get a SIM only with unlimited internet and a speed of up to 600 Mbit/s. These subscriptions also allow you to easily share up to 75GB of data per month with someone else, depending on the bundle you choose.
If you are a KPN customer for your fixed internet, you will benefit from Combivoordeel. This amounts to a 7.50 euro discount per month, and a further 5 euro discount per month on a streaming service of your choice.
4. Vodafone: standard 1Gbit/s and discount for young people
If you want the fastest internet speed, choose Vodafone. The standard is a maximum of 1Gbit/s and you temporarily pay 30 euros per month. Normally it costs 32.50 euros per month. This speed can only be selected with Odido and it will cost you more.
Moreover, you can also call and text unlimitedly. If you take out an Unlimited subscription at your address, you will receive a 2.50 euro discount per month. Ziggo customers also receive benefits. This way you get a discount of up to 7.50 euros per month and an extra TV package of your choice. This could be, for example, SkyShowtime or Ziggo Sport Totaal.
Are you not a Ziggo customer, but are you younger than 28 years old? You will then also receive a 7.50 euro discount per month on the subscription. You now pay 22.50 euros per month for Red Unlimited.
In order not to unnecessarily burden the network, providers still impose a restriction on you. Fortunately, the limit is so high that most people have to do their best to reach the ‘ceiling’. At Budget Mobiel you will be the first to benefit from this, because here you get a maximum of 4GB per day. Odido, KPN and Vodafone give you more space with a maximum of 20GB per day.
If you do arrive here, the providers will have supplements for an additional amount or the maximum internet speed will be significantly reduced.
The cheapest is Budget Mobiel. Please keep in mind that there are restrictions. For example, your maximum internet speed is very low: a maximum of 5Mbit/s. Moreover, you get a limit of only 4GB per day. Fortunately, this is enough for most people and you have the option to purchase add-ons per 1GB.
Vodafone has a standard maximum speed of 1Gbit/s, regardless of which subscription you choose. In addition, Odido also has the option to choose 1Gbit/s, but it is slightly more expensive.
Your bundle is valid within the European Union, although with restrictions. If you choose Budget Mobile, you get 26GB per month in the EU. If you plan to use more, take the Extra Internet EU option.
Odido gives you 40GB per month instead of unlimited and for Vodafone this is 50GB per month. At KPN this depends on the Unlimited bundle you choose, but is a maximum of 75GB per month. If you exceed this limit, the speed will be reduced to 64Kbit/s.
Unfortunately, your SIM card will not work outside the European Union. To get working mobile internet there, you will have to purchase a SIM card there or order a special ESIM.
