The leader of AUR, George Simion, the formation’s candidate in the presidential elections, declared, on Friday evening, that the Ukrainian authorities confirmed, through the document sent to Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, what he kept repeating – that the reason for the ban on his access to the territory of the neighboring country is due to ” the pro-Romanian activity” that he carried out.
“I was right! The reason for my ban in Ukraine: my pro-Romanian activity! The Ukrainian authorities, those invoked by the PNL trumpets and propaganda, confirm what I have always said: my pro-Romanian activity, my actions in support of our brothers from Chernivtsi, from Ukraine, the promotion of the historical truth in the Romanian communities in Ukraine – these are the real reasons which led to my ban in Ukraine. When I repeated in the last few days everywhere that I have not seen and have no connections with any foreign service (be it Russian), no one paid attention to me because the yellow-blue propaganda of the liberals pumps money on a conveyor belt in the press enslaved. Here, the Ukrainian authorities are dismantling all your lies!” wrote Simion, in a post on his website.
At the same time, he repeated that he met many people in Chernivtsi and Chisinau, “but all of them were Romanians”.
“I, throughout my life, have done nothing but be loyal to the Romanian people, to be loyal to my country and my people. (…) I have no reason to be ashamed! I fight to the end!”, Simion also said.
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu made public, on Friday evening, the document received from the Ukrainian authorities regarding the reasons why the leader of the AUR, George Simion, is prohibited from entering the territory of Ukraine.
“Considering the interest of public opinion in Romania regarding the correspondence between the Government of Romania and the Ukrainian authorities regarding the reasons why Mr. George Simion is prohibited from entering the territory of Ukraine, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu requested and received, through the competent institutions of the Romanian state, the agreement of the Ukrainian authorities to make available to the public the received answer and to make public information about this subject”, it is specified in a Government briefing.
In the response of the Ukrainian authorities sent to the Romanian Government, it is stated that the Security Service from Kiev decided to apply “a restrictive administrative measure” in the form of a travel ban to this country against the deputy Simion George as a result of his statements aimed at “discrediting Ukraine on the international arena and the promotion of unionist ideology”.
