Simon Le Bon (Duran Duran) receives an MBE from Prince William in Windsor

King Charles made the musician a Member of the Order of the British Empire in June in recognition of his contribution to music and humanitarian work.

Simon Le Bonfrontman of the group Duran Duranwas officially appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). During a ceremony at Windsor Castle, Prince William presented him with this honor.

When he heard he was to be made an MBE in June, Le Bon said it was an “incredible and completely unexpected” recognition for his contribution to music and humanitarian work. He pointed out that this award refers not only to his role in music, but also to his work outside the band in support of various humanitarian activities. He wrote on Instagram that he hopes this recognition will raise awareness of the work of the Blue Marine Foundation and Centrepoint.

In another post, Le Bon expressed how surprised he was by the honor. He said he felt like he was suffering from “intruder syndrome” and emphasized the importance of the supporting role of fans. “Without you, Duran Duran supporters, this service to music and humanitarian work would not exist,” he wrote.

As a Member of the Order of the British Empire, Le Bon joins a company that includes previously honored artists such as Blackpink, The Beatles, Adele, Ed Sheeran, MIA, Mel B and many more.
