The campaign staff of Vice President Kamala Harris and organizations associated with her election campaign have already managed to collect one billion dollars since the announcement of the candidacy. She became the candidate of the Democratic Party only in July after the withdrawal of President Joe Biden from the election. This is reported by the Reuters agency, which refers to an informed source, writes TASR.

The Reuters source states that the amount received is indicative of the donors’ enthusiasm. According to him, the funds will be used for advertising, campaigning in key states and election staff salaries.
The rate at which Harris manages to raise funds is unprecedented. On the first day after the announcement of the campaign, it managed to collect 25 million dollars, and in the first month this amount rose to 500 million.
For comparison, former President Donald Trump and his Republican Party raised $130 million in August. At the end of the month, they had a total of 295 million available, while Harris and the Democrats had 404 million.
According to new polls by Reuters and Ipsos, the race between Harris and Trump will be extremely close. At the same time, its lead is gradually decreasing at the national level. In addition, polls are very close in several key states. The election will take place on November 5.
