Singer Miguel Bravo was arrested by the Judicial Police (PJ) in the dressing rooms of the Festas do Porto Alto, in the municipality of Benavente, where he was due to perform this Saturday.
In a statement, the Judicial Police stated that the artist is suspected of three crimes of child sexual abuse and three crimes of aggravated child pornography committed in Évora. The victim, a 13-year-old female, was allegedly persuaded to exchange sexually oriented photographs and videos with Miguel Bravo. The investigation had been ongoing for several months. Bravo will appear before the Criminal Investigation and Prosecution Department of the Évora Court on Monday.
Miguel Bravo, born 21 years ago in the Alentejo town of Azaruja (Évora district), became popular through the “Got Talent” competition, and has been accused of duplicating his schedule: he would schedule shows in different locations at the same time and receive money for shows that he would then not perform, not returning the value of these ‘signals’ to the festival committees.
Shortly after the arrest, the Porto Alto Festival Committee published a statement on social media announcing the event. In addition to the Porto Alto Festival, Miguel Bravo had two more concerts scheduled for Saturday morning: in Cerdal, Valença do Minho, at around 1 am, and in A-dos-Negros, in Óbidos, at 2 am.
