Singer Petr Janda after severe heart surgery: “I won’t roll around” | News

The popular Czech singer and frontman of the legendary band Olympic Petr Janda is struggling with health problems, specifically with his heart. He suffers, or rather he suffered, from severe arrhythmia and in the end there was no other way, he had to undergo an operation during which the doctors performed an ablation of the heart.

But who would have expected Janda to have a nice rest in the hospital, could not be further from the truth – according to the information of the daily Aha! Janda underwent the procedure on Thursday and returned home just three days later. “One day they accepted me, the next day they did it to me, and the third day I was already marching home. It was fun. I’m fine, so why roll around?” said the singer with a smile.

Although the doctors recommended a rest regime, Janda does not even want to hear about such a thing. Instead of resting, he threw himself back into work and spends time in the studio recording a new self-titled album with his band Bomber.

Music and work on a new project are said to work better than medicine anyway: “I think – and I hope the doctors won’t be offended – that Bomber maybe surgery is more effective for me than ablation,” Janda told the doctors with a smile. The new record is said to be a story about returning home after a (most likely metaphorical) war. “It’s about an old bomber going back to base. He’s battered, has scars from the war, an empty tank, the captain has already turned off the navigation and he doesn’t really know if he’s even looking forward to going home after everything he’s been through,” the singer explained about the album’s theme.

By the way, it was not the first time that Janda faced heart problems. Already in November of last year, he had to be urgently transferred to the hospital three days before the concert, which he ended up singing. And two weeks later he had to go to the hospital again. “Two ambulances arrived, they took me away with sirens. It was nothing nice, nothing pleasant. Then they did some quick surgery on me, they just threw me in. They adjusted my pulse,” Janda recalls of the unpleasant experience.
