About a month ago, Kamil Stoch was set back in his preparation for the season: a knee injury slowed down the ski jumping superstar. But now the Polish association announced positive news.
“Kamil Stoch jumped in two training sessions on Thursday and everything is fine,” the portal “skijumping.pl” quotes Alexander Stöckl, sports director at the Polish Ski Association, from a message on social media.
“The knee is not a problem and Kamil is working on his technique,” the Austrian gave an update on the exceptional athlete and added: “I am happy that he is back and hope that he now has enough time to prepare for the coming season .”
Stoch himself shared a picture on social media in which he can be seen beaming in front of the ski jump in Zakopane. “Back to office” was the corresponding hashtag.
Knee injury slows down Kamil Stoch
The 37-year-old suffered a knee injury at the end of September while preparing for the season. At the time, Stöckl estimated the downtime to be “around four weeks”. A forecast that would prove to be extremely precise.
Stoch recently missed the Summer Grands Prix in Hinzenbach and Klingenthal as well as the Polish championship. The three-time Olympic ski jumping champion can now resume training around a month before the start of the season in Lillehammer (November 22nd).
Difficult preseason in ski jumping
Stoch has had a difficult 2023/24 winter in ski jumping. The three-time Four Hills Tournament winner only finished 26th in the overall World Cup. Stoch was the third best athlete on his team behind Aleksander Zniszczol (19th) and Piotr Zyla (25th).
In the upcoming ski jumping season, Stoch wants to move into other regions again and attack at the front.
