Ski jumping star causes shock moment in training

A blessing in disguise for Slovenia’s ski jumping star Domen Prevc. The two-time world champion apparently flew significantly further than originally planned during a training jump in Oberstdorf. When he landed, he almost had a potentially fatal fall.

That just went well: Domen Prevc was only able to avoid a potentially serious fall during a training jump in Oberstdorf with a good deal of luck and great acrobatic skills.

The world association FIS, among others, published a video of the jump on its Instagram channel. You can see a (too) perfect jump that goes far beyond the K-point of the jump. When he lands, Prevc is literally knocked backwards and almost hits his head on the slope.

The Slovenian then took the scene with humor. In his Instagram story he showed a video of the entire jump and wrote: “Work, live, enjoy!”

Prevc attacks again in the Ski Jumping World Cup

Prevc will also be an integral part of the Slovenian A team in the coming World Cup season. However, the 25-year-old has no longer been among the world’s best in recent years.

The youngest of the three Prevc brothers has always celebrated his greatest success in team competitions. Here he won gold at the 2022 and 2024 World Championships, as well as the silver medal in 2018.

In the World Cup, the Slovenian has been on the winner’s list six times in individual competitions. He triumphed four times in the winter of 2016 alone. In 2019 he also won the ski flying in Vikersund. Last winter, Prevc was at the top of the podium at the jumping in Sapporo. At the end of the season he finished 13th in the overall World Cup standings.

The upcoming ski jumping season begins at the end of November. The first World Cup stop is Lillehammer.
