Skoda Kodiaq gets an armored version. The SUV resists armed attacks thanks to the modifications

Skoda Kodiaq presents the armored version of the Kodiaq SUV. The car was developed together with the experts at UTAC Special Vehicles.

The UK division of the Czech manufacturer has revealed an armored version of the Kodiaq SUV. The car was created to withstand armed attacks and provides increased protection for the occupants.

Like the Superb Armored, which was completely updated with new features and even higher levels of personal security last year, the Kodiaq Armored is certified to civilian armored vehicle standards PAS 300 and PAS 301. PAS 301 certification is only awarded to vehicles that can passes a number of demanding tests, including those for payload, acceleration, top speed, handling and braking.

Other tests performed as part of the certification process include the vehicle being subjected to more than 200 rounds of ammunition, plus an explosion resistance rating on the vehicle’s side, roof and underfloor. Kodiaq Armored meets all these criteria and provides exceptional levels of personal protection for occupants.

As part of the vehicle’s development process, the new Kodiaq Armored underwent a rigorous testing program. As with all previous armored variants, the Kodiaq was developed with the full cooperation and technical support of Skoda and designed to look as similar as possible to the production model.

The family SUV now also offers protection against attacks

Kodiaq Armored incorporates a number of features and enhancements to provide complete protection for occupants. These include special bullet-proof glass and armored steel protection for the passenger compartment. As a result, Kodiaq Armored offers bullet resistance to various pistols and assault rifles and blast resistance to both grenades and high explosives.

To ensure that this version retains the same handling and agility as the standard production model, the new model is equipped with improved suspension and braking systems. Kodiaq Armored can also continue to ride if the tires are shot. The cars benefit from a system that stops the tire from slipping off the rim, even when deflated.

Other features specific to the armored version are the emergency lighting and siren system, along with an 8-inch touchscreen communications hub with GPS, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.
