Film highlights in February on Sky and Wow
Both friends of German cinema and Hollywood lovers should get their money’s worth with Sky and Wow in February. The German comedy “Two to One” will be available here from February 8th. It was released in cinemas in the summer of 2024 with Sandra Hülser in a leading role and received a lot of goodwill from critics and audiences. The background is real events after the fall of the Berlin Wall, or more precisely an attempted fraud by three friends who, in 1990, accidentally found a gigantic mountain of GDR marks in an old shaft and wanted to exchange this supposed treasure of millions into solvent Western money. But how do you do this in such a way that the authorities don’t become suspicious?
From February 28th, the Hollywood horror comedy “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” can be seen on Sky and Wow, which was released in cinemas in September last year. The 1988 “Beetlejuice” film brought director Tim Burton and the main actors Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder to worldwide fame. Like the first film, the sequel relies primarily on hand-made trick effects. Ryder and Keaton are also back in front of the camera alongside young Jenna Ortega (“Wednesday”), who has joined the cast. The first half of the film initially seems a bit sluggish and unoriginal, but towards the end the creative surprises and scenic highlights condense into a tour leading up to the successful finale.
Other exciting film releases in February include the Hollywood gangster flick “The Bikeriders” with Tom Hardy, Austin Butler and Michael Shannon, which provides an atmospheric insight into the origins of US biker gangs in the 1960s with high-quality cinematic gloss.
