Sky documentary wins Blue Panther 2024

After the Prix Italia, the Sky Original documentary “Dangerously Close – When Bears Kill” also won the Blue Panther.

Director Andreas Pichler received the Blue Panther – TV & Streaming Award in the Information / Journalism category for the Sky original documentary “Dangerously Close – When Bears Kill”. “The ‘Blue Panther’ and the ‘Prix Italia’ are a fantastic recognition for a documentary with a complex plot. My sincere thanks go to the entire ‘Dangerously Close’ team,” said Pichler after the award ceremony.

“Dangerously Close – When Bears Kill” examines the increasing spread of bears in Trentino in northern Italy and the Alpine region, traces the resulting conflicts between animal rights activists and the population and raises the question of the coexistence of humans and animals.

The Sky original documentary “Dangerously Close – When Bears Kill” is a production by Beetz Brothers Film Production and Miramonte Film in co-production with BR, SWR and Sky. It celebrated its premiere in May 2024 as part of the DOK.fest Munich. It was also recently awarded the prestigious Prix Italia in the television documentary category.

Christian Asanger, Vice President Entertainment Sky Deutschland sent special thanks and congratulations to the Beetz Brothers team around producer Georg Tschurtschenthaler and, above all, to the director Andreas Pichler: “He has exclusive access to the protagonists, touching images and a sensitive and balanced narrative approach created an award-worthy film.”

The “Blue Panther – TV & Streaming Award” (formerly the Bavarian Television Prize) honors German TV and streaming productions as well as web formats for social media platforms.
