Slovakia Announces End of Aid to Ukraine. Now It Will Send Gun Howitzers

Although the Slovaks announced that with the new government they will no longer send free military aid to Ukraine. Despite this fact, the weapons will still be delivered. It turns out that domestic companies have not received a red light for the implementation of agreements with Kiev. As part of one of them, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive as many as eight more of the world’s best gun-howitzers called Zuzana-2.

So far, Ukraine has received two pieces of this weapon from Slovakia, but By the end of the year it can count on eight more, and in 2025 on another six unitsThe entire order is being carried out by the Slovak concern Konštrukta-Defence on behalf of Norway, Denmark and Germany.

Zuzana-2 is a self-propelled howitzer It was created based on and experience from an older weapon of this type, namely the wz. 2000 Zuzana. Its attribute is a powerful cannon for 155 mm projectiles, i.e. standard artillery projectiles used in NATO countries.

The system is installed on a wheeled chassis based on Tatra 815 VP truck with 8×8 drive system. It offers enough engine power to accelerate the vehicle to 90 km/h on roads and to about 30 km/h in difficult terrain. Zuzana-2 is designed to overcome quite high obstacles up to 60 centimeters high.

Ukrainians praise the Zuzana-2 gun-howitzer because it has such powerful firepower that it can hit territories occupied by the Russian enemy at a distance of up to 41 kilometers. Zuzana-2 also has the option of firing in MRSI mode. The rate of fire is also impressive. The automatic loads shells up to five shots per minute. However, in manual mode, the rate of fire drops to two shots per minute.

The crew can defend themselves during an enemy attack auxiliary armament in the form of a 12.7 mm machine gun. Zuzana-2 has so far been excellent at eliminating the most powerful Russian vehicles and combat systems. Currently, Ukraine badly needs gun-howitzers, because they can defend against the ongoing Russian offensive in the Kharkov and Donetsk regions.
