In the Slovak expedition for the XXXIII Games. there are 28 athletes in the Olympics – six shooters and athletes, four water slalomers, two road cyclists and swimmers, one representative each of skateboarding, boxing, judo, table tennis, yachting, archery, wrestling and tennis.

This is the lowest expedition in Slovak history. For comparison – the Czech Republic will be represented by 113 athletes, while it is also not represented in team sports.
Let us recall that in Atlanta 1996 we were represented by 71 athletes, four years later in Sydney – also with three collective sports – up to 108. Exactly two decades ago in Athens 64, then in Beijing 57, in London 47, in Rio de Janeiro 51 and last time in Tokyo 41.

The president of SOŠV, Anton Siekel, believes that even though the expedition is small, it has its own quality and will achieve good results in Paris.
“I am very happy that the expedition can match other large European expeditions, not in number but in quality. Our traditionally strong sports, shooting sports, water sports will still have the ambition to apply for the highest positions and medal positions.
I am rooting for our athletes to confirm these ambitions. I believe that even those who are not favorites will surprise and on the given day they will also have a bit of sporting luck and will attack even the highest positions,” he said.
