Slovakia would participate in an Olympics in Budapest, it has already sent a list

Slovakia has initiated consultations with Hungary on the possibilities of creating a sports infrastructure network that could be used in Hungary’s potential bid to host the 2036-2040 Summer Olympic Games – this was announced by the president of the otherwise anti-Hungarian, far-right Slovak National Party (SNS), Andrej Danko and Dusan Keketi, Minister of Sports and Tourism Minister announced the Parameter according to.

According to them, the consultations are not aimed at a common tender intention. – The consultations are about the possibilities related to the existing and future sports infrastructure, which can also be used for the organization of the Olympics and are sustainable in the long term – said Andrej Danko, who says that they are negotiating with the Hungarian side about the list of Slovak sports facilities. “Hungary has decided that there are also sports facilities in Slovakia that could be included in the organization of the Olympics, such as privately owned ones, as well as football stadiums in Bratislava, Dunaszerdahely or Kasa. It is possible that new facilities will be built as part of the concept,” he explained.

One joint project could be, for example, the expansion of the Olympic training center and sports complex in Somorja, which would function under the name Olympic Arena. According to Keketi, the Olympic Arena would provide infrastructure for more than 15 Olympic sports in an area of nearly 5,000 square meters. In this way, the complex managed by the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee would meet the requirements for hosting international events. “The total cost of the investment is estimated at 31 million euros, to which the state would contribute 20 million euros, and the rest would be covered by the owner of the current complex, a private investor,” he explained. The Slovak government still has to approve the public investments in the project, he added.
