This after electric cars have been criticized for being too expensive for many years.

The trend is confirmed by the fact that a small electric car with a reasonable price tag has now been appointed Car of the Year in Europe 2025.

Small electric car from Renault

The electric car in question is the new Renault 5 E-tech and its performance-oriented sibling the Alpine A290.

It is the second year in a row that an electric car from Renault has been named car of the year in Europe. The Renault Scenic E-tech was named Car of the Year in Europe 2024.

It is only the second time in 62 years that the same car brand has won the award two years in a row. In 1995 and 1996, Fiat managed the same feat with the Punto and Bravo models.
