Small electric from Nissan based on the new Renault Twingo

Nissan is in the early stages of developing an electric city car for Europe. The car will be the sibling model of the upcoming Renault Twingo EV and will also be based on the Ampr Small platform.

This was announced by Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida, saying that Nissan’s goal is to re-enter the European city car segment.

We’re aiming for a smart car for tomorrow’s drivers that’s good for customers, good for us and good for Ampere. This car will offer the comfort and advanced functionality that customers experience, but in a compact size and at an attractive and affordable price,

Uchida said, adding that the talks are at an early stage, but said that:

The move represents an expansion of our partnership across different vehicle categories and demonstrates the strengths of our alliance and our shared desire to innovate for customers.
