SMS received from NIS: from January 27, farmers will NOT be able to buy fuel at preferential prices

The Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS) has informed farmers that on January 27, the decree allowing them to buy diesel at a preferential price of 179 dinars per liter will expire. In a message sent by phone, farmers are urged to buy fuel before that date if they have not already done so.

According to the Government decree, farmers who have registered their household are entitled to 100 liters of diesel per hectare.

The president of the Independent Association of Farmers, Jovica Jakšić, said that he received that message, but also that he does not buy diesel at that preferential price because it is of poor quality and the tractor consumes 20 percent more fuel, reports Beta.

“When consumption and price are recalculated, there is no mathematics involved. I buy fuel at a private pump, even though it is a few dinars more expensive per liter because the tractor consumes 20 percent more diesel from the NIS pump than from a private one. The fuel from Gazprom’s (co-owner in NIS) pumps is somewhat better,” said Jakšić.
