SNCF says it is the victim of a “massive attack” on its network, with rail traffic severely disrupted

Chaos on the SNCF network. Several malicious acts, including a fire near the TGV tracks in Courtalain (Eure-et-Loir), seriously disrupted train traffic on July 26. The timing is not insignificant: it is a day of vacation departures and the date of the opening of the Paris Olympic Games.

The activity of the Montparnasse station, which serves the west of the country, is seriously disrupted. But delays and cancellations of trains also affect the Paris-Lille lines (after a fire in Arras) and the high-speed line to the East (with a fire in Pagny-sur-Moselle).

The occurrence of several incidents on this particularly sensitive day leaves little doubt as to the criminal origin of these disruptions. The Minister of Transport denounced on the social network X “coordinated malicious acts”. “They will seriously disrupt traffic until this weekend”. “I strongly condemn these criminal actions which will compromise the departures on holiday of many French people”, he wrote. The SNCF declared to the AFP agency that it was the victim of a “massive attack” whose effects could be felt “all weekend”.
