SMHI warns of a strong low pressure moving in from the southwest and causing troublesome weather.
– It starts in Skåne on the night of Monday, and then spreads north, says Niklas Einevikmeterologist at SMHI, to News24.
Lots of snow
On Monday, there will be lots of snow in the southern part of Sweden. The strong winds make it even worse and traffic chaos is expected. Later in the day, however, it will be warmer in Götaland and Svealand, which means that the snow will turn to rain. The temperature will reach up to a few plus degrees.
In northern Norrland, however, it is expected to continue to be chilly and low temperatures, according to SMHI.
On Sunday, the snow showers in the mountains decrease and the north-west wind decreases in central and southern Norrland. At the same time, the clouds are thickening in the south, and snowfall is expected to move in over southern Götaland during the evening.
Affects traffic
The snowy weather is expected to affect traffic to a large extent, but it is not possible to say which specific roads will be affected.
– It is very extensive, there are not many who escape this, says Niklas Einevik.
The Swedish Transport Administration urges people not to make unnecessary journeys:
“Take the warning seriously and make an assessment of how the weather will affect you. Consider the safety of both yourself and your fellow road users if you have to go out on the roads. Even outside the warning’s time period, as a motorist you can count on the road conditions to be treacherous. Don’t take any risks and if you have the opportunity to go already on Sunday – do it,” says the Swedish Transport Agency’s press manager Bengt Olsson in a press release.

Unstable the rest of the week
On Wednesday, the worst low pressure subsides, but the week continues with unsettled weather throughout the country. There will be periodic snow, snow flurries and rain in the southernmost parts.
– It will be slushy, says Niklas.
Towards the end of the week, it may get colder again in southern Sweden when the sub-zero temperatures return and spread south.
