The fact is that the famous studio Rockstar has a very ambivalent relationship with computers as a gaming platform. And that despite the fact that it actually started on computers. In short, Windows players are currently being put on the back burner by the Rockstar studio, and there is not much chance that this will change with the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. We will definitely see this game on PC, but when?

That’s a good question. The delay between the original release and subsequent release on PC varies for Rockstar games, and for example the first Red Dead Redemption had a whopping 14 years. No, we certainly won’t be waiting that long for GTA 6 for PC, but PC players can definitely count on the fact that the version for their machines won’t be released in 2025 like the one for PS5 / Xbox.

And why the delay? Money is behind everything, although that’s something Rockstar Games certainly doesn’t have to deal with. The purchasing power on consoles is generally higher than on PCs, where piracy is also practiced on a large scale (albeit less than in the past) and it is therefore not surprising that a studio or a publisher wants to be the first to send an expected game to a platform where will sell in brutal numbers.

The second aspect is the complexity of the entire process. For consoles, developers tune the game to one configuration, for computers they have to reckon with hundreds and hundreds of options. Due to the huge amount of details that the games from Rockstar Games are famous for, it is certainly not an easy task to perfectly tune the game on PC, and it is clear that any unfinished business will not be taken lightly by the legendary developers.

So when is GTA 6 coming out on PC?

As we have already stated, in 2025, i.e. at the same time as the release of the game on the PlayStation and Xbox consoles, it will certainly not happen. It’s likely that PC gamers will have to wait at least a year, until 2026, but it’s possible that the wait will stretch out for another year. The delay between the first release of GTA 5 and its arrival on PC was about a year and a half, which may also be the case with GTA 6.

On the other hand, the wait is usually worth it for Rockstar games, as the PC versions often arrive with improved graphics and somehow better looking. It makes sense because the most powerful PCs can handle more than consoles. And if waiting for the PC version of GTA 6 bothers you, there is still an option to buy a console for this highly anticipated game and enjoy it on the day of release.
