Song recognition records where you discovered each song

With the update iOS 18.2Apple brings the r functionMusic recognition on iPhone to a new level, introducing the geotagging for recognized tracks. The Music Recognition function, heir to the famous Shazam, now does not limit itself to identifying songs, but allows you to remember the specific place where you listened to them.

The new option of geotagging, called Musical Memories, is activated through a simple process: just press and hold the Music Recognition button in the Control Center and then access the History to receive a warning asking you to allow access to the location. Once enabled, the function automatically records your geographic location every time you recognize a songsaving it in your history along with the title.

This innovation is useful for those who want to remember moments and experiences related to music: you will be able to see, for example, where you discovered that song that struck you and remember the atmosphere of an evening in a club or at an event. For now, locations aren’t viewable on a map, but you can still access specific data in your song history.

The ability to create “musical memories” on iOS could evolve in the future with advanced viewing options. Maybe Apple will soon allow you to see the places connected to the songs discovered on a map, making everything even more interactive.
