Sony launches two new camera power solutions to meet the needs of creators

Sony today announced the launch of two new power supplies for Alpha and Cinema Line cameras that use the NP-FZ100 batteries to meet the growing needs of creators: the BC-ZD1 Battery Charger, which charges two batteries simultaneously, and the DC-C1 DC Adapter, which powers the camera body directly from an external source.

By expanding the range of power solutions, including original batteries, Sony wants to extend the time of photography and video recording and thus contribute to a more efficient workflow of creators.

Battery charger BC-ZD1

The BC-ZD1 is a high-speed charger for high-capacity NP-FZ100 batteries(1). It can simultaneously charge two batteries in about 155 minutes(2) (full charge(3) ), as long as it is connected to a USB Power Delivery (PD) compatible power source with an output of 30W or higher and with a USB cable that supports USB PD (3A) or higher voltage.

Key features

  • Fast charging of two NP-FZ100 batteries at the same time when connected to a USB PD compatible power source i.
  • Two NP-FZ100 batteries can be quickly charged in approximately 155 minutes (full charge)
  • It is equipped with a light that shows the state of battery charge with a scale of 5 degrees.
  • Compact size for easy portability: Width approx. 84.5 mm x height approx. 29.2 mm x depth approx. 70.0 mm, weight approx. 149 g.(4)
  • For safe and fast charging of two NP-FZ100 batteries at the same time, with sufficient heat dissipation, built-in monitoring and heat control.

DC DC-C1 adapter

DC adapter DC-C1(5) enables stable power supply during long filming or streaming. Provides continuous and reliable power for cameras compatible with NP-FZ100 or NP-FW50 rechargeable batteries using an external power source such as a USB PD-compatible AC adapter (65W or more) and USB PD-capable USB cable (5A).

Key features

  • DC adapter iV powers directly from an external power source, such as a USB PD-compatible AC adapter (65W or more), a camera body that supports the NP-FZ100 or NP-FW50.
  • The DC-C1 features a locking screw hole to help prevent accidental cable disconnection(6)or an anchor loop can be used to secure the cable in the USB port.
  • A 1.6m long cable connects the plug to the power supply, allowing for flexible configuration during filming.
  • The model is equipped with a power indicator that shows the power status.
  • Compact and lightweight design for easy portability: power supply size – width approx. 52.0 mm x height approx. 70.6 mm x depth approx. 32.0 mm(7).

Prices and availability

DC-C1 and BC-ZD1 will be on sale from mid-November, DC-C1 at a suggested retail price of EUR 149, BC-ZD1 at a suggested retail price of EUR 139(8).
