Do you remember that Sony smartphones are on the market? In the past, devices from the Xperia line were very popular. They were valued for the quality of photos and videos. It seems that the new Sony Xperia 1 VI model will also meet the expectations of buyers. The question is, will the quality of the camera alone convince enough customers to buy this expensive flagship?

First we met Sony, then Sony Ericsson, and now Xperia — the smartphones of this Japanese brand have been presented under different names. It is worth mentioning that in recent years the tech giant has not been doing very well in the mobile phone segment. Their products are carefully crafted and often have intriguing features, but for various reasons they do not attract as many customers as the latest models from realme, Samsung, Xiaomi or Apple. It is worth emphasizing, however, that Sony flagships usually offer exceptional cameras. This is not surprising, considering that Sony is a renowned brand in the photography industry.

The Sony Xperia 1 VI will be officially launched on May 15. We have already heard about the advanced camera that will be in this model. Now, as more and more data is emerging, the new Xperia 1 VI looks more and more interesting.

The Xperia 1 VI seems to focus on one element in particular: its impressive zoom.

The telephoto lens in the Sony Xperia 1 VI will be improved with a new optical zoom compared to its predecessor. It will probably have a focal range of 85-170 mm. This means that the image will be able to be enlarged by 3.5 times and 7 times. This is an impressive result considering that most flagship phones from competitors (such as the Google Pixel 8 Pro or Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra) offer a five-times zoom.

For many users, the most important new feature may be the new camera app. It is designed to be easy and intuitive to use. With one app, we will be able to control different modes of taking photos and videos. So far, Sony has advertised various advanced solutions for professionals, including the ability to record movies in cinema quality. However, average users often encountered difficulties in using the phone to its full potential.

The hardware side of the main camera and the wide-angle camera remains unchanged compared to the Sony Xperia 1 V. However, the Japanese company has improved the software, which has also increased the performance of the device itself. So we can expect even better quality photos and videos.

The change from previous models also concerns the shape of the casing. Previous Sony smartphones had a rather unusual, elongated shape. The screen had a 21:9 aspect ratio, and there were relatively large frames above and below it. Now the screen proportions are to be 19.5:9, and the resolution can reach up to 4K. The device’s performance will be at the highest level – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor will be supported by 12 or 16 GB of RAM.

Will the Sony Xperia 1 VI prove to be the best smartphone for taking photos? We’ll find out in time, but photo quality test results are one thing, and smartphone sales are another. It’s hard to predict whether the new flagship from Japan will be able to really threaten the dominance of brands like Samsung, Apple and Chinese manufacturers.
