15 days have passed since the announcement of dissolution of Chittagong South District BNP convening committee. New committees may be announced at any moment. Therefore, various discussions and rumors are going on at the grassroots outside the fold of the party about the new leadership.
In such a situation, news has spread in various circles including social media that a new youth-based committee is coming soon. Where no money launderer accused of money laundering case, controversial one time violator of party discipline, inactive in the party’s time of trouble will not be accommodated. That’s pretty sure. But in this case, there is a strong discussion about who is coming to the new leadership.

This time, the post of president or convener is being discussed in Chittagong South District. They are former member of parliament Gazi Mohammad Shahjahan Jewel and former member of parliament Sarwar Jamal Nizam, former vice president of South District BNP Alhaj Idris Mia, former vice president Advocate Iftekhar Hossain Chowdhury Mohsin, former general secretary Professor Sheikh Md. Mohiuddin, former joint convener Alhaj Ali Abbas and former Chhatra Dal leader Shakhawat Zaman Dulal.
General secretary or member secretary are in discussion- former mayor of Banskhali municipality and former joint secretary of South district BNP Kamrul Islam Hoshaini, former joint convener of district BNP Laykat Ali, former joint secretary Ashab Uddin Chowdhury, former committee member Mojibur Rahman, Anwara upazila BNP. Member Secretary Lion Md. Helal Uddin, former president of South District Youth Dal and former joint secretary of District BNP Badrul Khair Chowdhury, former general secretary of District Chhatra Dal Rezaul Karim Neshar, Mishkatul Islam Chowdhury Pappa, son of late former MP and Minister Zafarul Islam Chowdhury.
In addition, members of the dissolved committee, Nazmul Mostafa Amin, Ziauddin Chowdhury Ashfaq, member secretary of Patia Upazila BNP. Khorshed Alam, Anwarar Md. BNP leaders said that Manjur is also campaigning.
The former general secretary of South District BNP Professor Sheikh Md. Mohiuddin said that there should be leaders who are former student leaders. From that 1/11 period to the tenure of the previous dictatorial government, those who were active in the field during the difficult times.

Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, co-organizing secretary of BNP in charge of Chittagong, said to the media, “In South Chittagong, such leaders will be brought to the committee who are tried and tested by the party, who have survived hard times, who have given up, and whose hands are safe in the politics of the future.” Even grassroots activists, whom they want to make leaders So no controversial person can be a leader.’
Incidentally, Chittagong South District BNP committee was formed through the conference in 2009. At that time, Zafrul Islam Chowdhury was made the president and Sheikh Mohammad Mohiuddin the general secretary. Which was also approved by party chairperson Khaleda Zia. Later in April 2011 it was again restructured. Sebar Zafrul Islam Chowdhury was made the president and Gazi Shajahan Jewel was made the general secretary and Sheikh Mohammad Mohiuddin was made the vice president. The committee formed for three years was dissolved in October 2019 after serving eight years and five months.
On October 2 of the same year, the then Senior Vice-President of the Metropolitan BNP Abu Sufian was convened and the then President of Boalkhali Upazila BNP, Mostak Ahmed Khan, was formed as the member secretary of the South District BNP Committee. Then on May 7, 2023, the 4th member of the committee Enamul Haque Enam was made the 1st joint convener of the committee.
