South Korea: Mourning scenes at the airport as the names of the victims were announced

The scene inside South Korea’s Muan International Airport today is “heartbreaking” as relatives and loved ones of passengers on board the fatal Jeju Air Flight 2216 from Bangkok. The flight was carrying 181 passengers, crashed and the plane burst into flames. Just 2 people went live.

Many in the crowd wept or shouted as authorities read aloud the names of the victims, according to video from Reuters.

Several relatives can be seen shouting at officials, repeatedly asking for more information in the wake of South Korea’s worst air disaster in decades.

Only two people have been pulled alive from the wreckage and rescuers have warned there is little chance of finding any more survivors.

“I’m going crazy,” a man was heard shouting in the video. People were also seen hugging each other and wiping away tears as crying could be heard in the background.

South Korean media have broadcast similar footage in recent hours. “We need to confirm whether they are dead or alive!” a woman could be heard shouting on a broadcast. “Only then can we figure out which hospital to go to!”
