SPORTSMANLY – Trump hit the high ball

“It’s a very simple question. Like everyone in the room, you know the answer: we can’t allow it. We will stop it, we will stop it completely” – as Donald Trump made the world press in seconds last week at a campaign event in the state of Georgia specifically aimed at female voters so he answered to the question of the status of transgender people in women’s sports. The former president of the United States of America, who is preparing to return, did not evade the question with an evasive answer, on the contrary, in line with his twenty-point program, he openly included the delicate relationship between sports and gender in the list of campaign topics before the presidential election due in two weeks.

Which is also interesting – and of course to be welcomed – because Trump, for example, talks about the Russian-Ukrainian war, including Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president’s obstinate world political ambitions, much more carefully and tactically as the vote approaches.

War and gender. Together with migration, they are the three most sensitive political fault lines of our time, which affect everything, including sports (see also the banning of Russian athletes from most international competitions).

We can breathe. If Trump is elected, he will not only end the war in one day, he will stop the gender madness in America and of course in Europe, and as a side benefit, he will also clean up the sports life.

Of course, the situation is more complicated than that. The United States is an ally of Ukraine and Israel in two of the most serious war conflicts in the world at the moment. The USA exports not only weapons to Ukraine, but also liberalism, and possibly a transgender spokesperson to strengthen the army’s communication, because let’s face it, the Kalashnikov, but also the drone and the missile, will find their target differently if the Ukrainian buck fires its weapon in that awareness , that racial discrimination is not a crime, but a glory, because what else would the Ukrainian people’s centuries-old demand be during the wars, than to legally sow the seeds of gender neutrality in their black land. Israel, on the other hand, is perhaps the most orthodox state in the so-called democratic world, where same-sex couples cannot legally marry to this day, not least because the institution of marriage is still the responsibility of the churches.

Moving on, Israel is today a natural ally of right-wing parties in Europe, while the United States, working hand-in-hand with the European Union – we can also experience it ourselves – is working to oust the national, conservative-rooted parties from power. Hungarian Jewry takes a firm position in this debate. Vince Szalay-Bobrovniczky, Deputy Secretary of State for Civil and Social Relations at the Prime Minister’s Office, Halljad, Izrael! radio program on Friday, he said personally: In Austria, it is not the advance of the Freedom Party that poses a threat to the local Jewish community, but the increasingly populous and violent influx of migrants with a Muslim background, and in fact, in general, the parties of the European Parliament’s Patriot faction are not anti-Jewish, but downright philo-Semitic. Well, we can remember that in 2000, when the FPÖ led by Jörg Haider entered into a coalition with the Austrian People’s Party, the Hungarian and European Jewish organizations in general still sided with the left-wing parties and were far from such understanding, the European Union directly three (well, not from the Southeast) sent a sage to Austria to investigate the scandalous situation.

And the fact that David Pressman, the accredited ambassador of the United States to Hungary, considers himself a proud Jew and is happily married – yes – to his husband, Daniel, is just icing on the cake. Not forgetting that, in his zeal for business, Pressman also tries to gain as much influence as possible in Hungarian public life by hosting famous politicians, artists and influencers as well as athletes at his famous dinners, as evidenced by the not entirely thought-out visits of Áron Szilágyi and Kristóf Rasovszky.

I wish everything would really change all at once, or – from a conservative point of view – everything would turn for the better by itself if Trump moved back into the White House!

Our world has become incredibly complex and is changing at an alarming rate. He is a man on his feet, who sees through all the connections in this network, and is able to dominate. We can perhaps say this much that anyone who is not aware of himself, does not know exactly where he came from, where he belongs, where he is going, is irretrievably confused and lost in the confusion.

From an arbitrary point of view, sport has an important role in regulating processes. Precisely because in sports the rule is really a rule, it cannot be relativized, it can be interpreted as desired according to the political interest, and although the subjective aspect has some room for maneuver (see the interpretation of the offside rule from Tamás Krausz to the responsibility of the VAR technician), there is no, there can be no dispute about it , the winner is the one who scores more goals, runs faster, jumps farther, throws the substance. And of course, only a few sports (riding, chess, darts, snooker) allow transition between the sexes, and even then strictly in one direction: women can start between men, and not the other way around.

At least that’s what we thought for centuries, until gender made its way into sports. And he really turned everything upside down. At both the Tokyo and Paris Olympics, an athlete of dubious gender, Laurel (born Gavin) Hubbard and Imane Helif, were among the most talked about athletes. The one hundred and thirty-year-old International Olympic Committee will never wash off the shame of carving a sports historical figure out of the untalented weightlifter who wanted to realize himself by transforming from a man to a woman. Even from the perspective of more than three years, it is embarrassing to recall how the many potentates of the IOC hounded the first verified and admitted transgender athlete in the history of the Olympics, who was then eliminated with three invalid attempts, yet was elected female (!) athlete of the year in New Zealand. Thomas Bach, who failed there and then as the president of the IOC, could at least reveal in his memoirs what kind of interest and pressure allowed Hubbard’s candidacy to be pushed through the patina organization, against which Joe Biden did not raise his voice anyway.

Where and how far gender has spread is a frightening or a smiling example – a matter of approach – for the 2024-25 season, the Spanish Football Association accepted the entry of the all-transgender male Fenix FC into one of the lower division leagues. In order to avoid possible misunderstandings, therefore, between men.

The genie is out of the bottle. Donald Trump raised his voice against the role of transgender women among women in outrage at the fact that a male-turned-female volleyball player hits the ball with awesome force.
