Spotify is preparing a HiFi plan. Its price is to be very high

What doesn’t Spotify have that its competitors do? It’s lossless music. Apple Music added this option a few years ago, but the Swedes (despite big announcements) are still slow to implement it. It looks like users of the most popular streaming service will soon be able to use it. However, you have to be prepared for a considerable expense.

Spotify HiFi, as the aforementioned plan is called, will be an expensive service. The exact price is not yet known, but the CEO of the Swedish company, Daniel Ek, has lifted the veil of secrecy on this subject. It will not be cheap.

Ek stated that the price of Spotify HiFi could be up to $20 per month. This is a lot for music streaming services. In Poland, this amount will probably be adjusted to our market and we can try to guess it.

In Poland, an individual subscription to the Spotify Premium plan costs (after the last increases a few months ago) 23.99 PLN/month. The same option in the United States means an expense of $11.99. The aforementioned $8 more for access to the lossless format in our country will probably translate into an expense of a dozen or so zlotys more. In this way, the subscription fee could approach up to 40 PLN!

In comparison, Apple Music has only one plan for individual users, but it offers access to lossless music at no extra cost. The price is 21.99 PLN/monthwhich is significantly less than the forecast amount for Spotify HiFi.

If Spotify in the HiFi option really costs that much, the Swedes may have trouble selling such a plan. It is true that previously it was explained by the price of a single CD, but the market has changed significantly. There will probably be some interested users, but there probably won’t be too many of them. We do not predict a huge success.

Spotify announced the addition of lossless music to its own service a few years ago, but there is still no plan in the offer and we still have to wait for its introduction. It is possible that users of the HiFi option (also called Supremium) will receive something extra for such a large fee, but there is no indication of this at the moment.
