According to Daniel Ek, the Deluxe version will have hi-fi sound with much more control options.
An extra package that has been floating around for years will soon be added to Spotify’s offer – at least this is what the company’s CEO said in an interview with American comedian Trevor Noah the other day, when he accepted his invitation to participate in his talk show. This would be the right time, since this is the third year they have promised to do this every year.
The offer, which has been appearing in communications since 2021, primarily includes an even better, lossless streaming service, but this has also been supplemented with additional things since the first announcement. In addition to AI-based playlists, they would also offer advanced library management and headphone sound quality optimization.
During the conversation, Daniel Ek confirmed that the new offer is an even better concept than the premium package. Word followed and many things were discussed about the new version called “Deluxe” – except the release date.
In this regard, the Spotify leader used a usual euphemism at this time, according to which the necessary efforts are still in the early stages. The value of this saying is somewhat overshadowed by the nearly 1,300 days that have passed since the first announcement offering hi-fi sound. However, what we were able to get a little more specific information about is the price of the new package.
Since the current top bid is $11.99, the podcast’s statement that the new item will be roughly $5 more is comparable to that. So, it is most likely that the price of the Deluxe subscription will be around 17-18 dollars (6,000-6,500 forints). What this will mean for Hungarian users can only be guessed at, since the subscription levels in different markets do not cost the same.
Whatever the new package will be in the end, it is sure to be quite different from what was planned in advance. Some of the original plans could be modified or overwritten by the offers of other streaming providers that appeared in the meantime and met similar needs. Among others, Apple and Amazon’s own music platform has also improved the quality of the music available in the standard package.
Since the above companies – in contrast to Spotify – have many other interests, they are even able to pass on the higher-quality music offered at the base price, since they can collect the lost amount on their other platforms as well. However, this puts Spotify in a forced situation, which has to come up with an offer supplemented with extras, with which it can get back into the competition.
