The case of spying on the mobile phone of the head of the Executive, Pedro Sanchezusing the Israeli software Pegasus, has gained momentum again after a second shipment of information from France to the National Court. The judge in charge of the Central Court of Instruction No. 4, José Luis Calama, decided in April to reopen the case in which espionage on the devices of the Ministers of Defense is also being investigated, Margarita Robles; Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska; and Agriculture, Luis Planas; as reported Digital Freedom.
Calama reopened the case after receiving a European Investigation Order (OEI) of the French judicial authorities, which included an investigation carried out in the neighboring country in 2021 with the collaboration of Israel and the United States, after detecting multiple infections on phones journalists, lawyers, members of the French government or deputies. The judge then commissioned an expert report from the National Cryptologic Centre, which depends on the National Intelligence Centre (CNI), in order to compare the Technical elements collected in the investigations French and Spanish to identify those responsible for cyber attacks.

To this day, both France and Spain are still investigating Morocco in search of evidence that could point to it as the possible author of the Pegasus espionage,” they added.
They also point out that “Significant progress is not ruled out in the investigation during this month of September. The French judges investigating espionage in their country could travel to Spain. In addition, Judge Calama could order a new series of proceedings after receiving the second report from the National Cryptologic Centre.
Calama has already questioned the former director of the CNI Paz Esteban and the official who signed the preliminary reports that served as the basis for the complaint filed by the State Attorney’s Office. On the other hand, the Minister of the Presidency, Felix Bolanosthe Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, and the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, testified in writing before the judge.
