Three years after a successful first season, the South Korean series returns for 7 new episodes, still on Netflix. And if you have already devoured this season 2 of Squid Gamewe have good news for you: a gift awaits you under the tree.
As soon as its season 1 is released, in 2021, Squid Game has become a true global phenomenon, with goodies galore, gigantic promotional campaigns and spin-off reality shows filled with uneasiness. And at the end of 2024, Netflix has finally left its gift under the tree: season 2 of the South Korean series, just revealed on December 26. To accompany this highly anticipated sequel, the streaming platform has obviously pulled out all the stops.
A battle royale style mobile game, called Squid Game: Unleashed (or Squid Game: Unleashed), was thus revealed on December 17. This is a first for Netflix since the game, which features 32 players simultaneously in games inspired by the series, is even accessible to non-subscribers. And if you’ve already binge-watched season 2 of the series, the streaming giant has thought of everything: you can win rewards, in this game available on Android and iOS.

Season 2 of Squid Game is no exception to the rule and the streaming platform does not hesitate to put all the chances on its side so that the episodes are gobbled up by fans, as soon as possible.

Bittersweet rewards
For each episode watched from season 2, rewards will be offered to players. Here is the list:
- Reward #1: 15,000 free in-game cash, awarded to all players, regardless of the number of episodes watched.
- Reward n°2: 20 tokens allowing you to spin the game wheel, in order to win more gifts, granted after viewing episode 1.
- Reward #3: 20,000 free cash, awarded after watching episode 2.
- Reward #4: 25 tokens, awarded after watching episode 3.
- Reward #5: 25,000 free cash, awarded after watching episode 4.
- Reward #6: 50 tokens, awarded after watching episode 5.
- Reward #7: 50,000 free cash, awarded after watching episode 6.
- Reward n°8: a free skin, called the “Spectator without moderation”, granted after viewing episode 7, and therefore season 2 in its entirety.
A way for Netflix to create links between all its activities, from series to mobile games imagined for the occasion, in a large, dizzying transmedia universe. Especially since in the case of Squid Gamewe can legitimately question the highlighting of macabre violence, encouraged here by aggressive marketing. The game’s rewards therefore have a slightly bittersweet taste.
