SsangYong is preparing the new generation Actyon under the KG Mobility brand. Low-cost Range Rover Velar?

After changing ownership last year and becoming part of the South Korean KG group, SsangYong now continues its car manufacturing activities under a new name: KGM (de la „KG Mobility”).

After the launch of the Torres EVX SUV, the new owner of the Korean manufacturer has big ambitions and proves it with the presentation of this new KGM Actyon.

The second generation KGM Actyon follows the first model, the SsangYong Actyon, which entered the history of the car as the first SUV coupe on the market, sold from 2006 to 2018, two years before the famous BMW X6.

The KGM Actyon resembles a low-cost Range Rover Velar

This time, however, the Asian company abandoned the chaotic design and created a new SUV with a compelling style reminiscent of the Range Rover Velar. The new Actyon is distinguished by its sloping windscreen pillars, which give rise to a floating roof that slopes towards the rear, giving a sense of fluidity.

The influence of the British luxury SUV is also evident at the rear, with a wide black strip running across the tailgate and incorporating slim red headlights. The model is distinguished by the two optical blocks positioned at the bottom, which continue along the sides with a black border. No pictures of the interior have been released yet.

The KMG Actyon will also be marketed with a 100% electric powertrain borrowed from the Torres EVX and developing 207 hp (152 kW). It will be combined with a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 73.4 kWh, supplied by BYD.

For those allergic to full-electric models, the range will also include internal combustion versions with a 1.5-litre petrol engine combined with all-wheel drive.

For the moment, the exact release date of this new KGM Actyon has not yet been announced, but the new executives of the South Korean brand have confirmed that it will happen before the end of 2024.
