STALKER

The Stalker series started its game series already in 2007 with the work Shadow of Chernobyl. The players fell in love with it almost immediately, the game offered realism, an open post-apocalyptic world and a great horror atmosphere. Two more parts were released very soon after that, which focused on expanding the open world, improved graphics, options, mechanics or enemy AI. In all cases, the games were commercially successful, but there were organizational and financial problems that caused them sad end of studies GSC Game World and hopefully we’ll see a sequel someday.

An interesting fact

Did you know that Stalker could only be released on Xbox consoles? That was the original plan of the studio GSC Game World, however, the console could not keep up with the hardware and the only way to give players a quality Stalker was to release it only on PC. Today it is also available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Also on Nintendo Switch from October 29.

In the meantime, however, he also came out mobile Stalkerhowever, it never found a large community of players and to this day many players still have no idea of its existence, and it should be noted that it was withdrawn from stores only in 2020. But what must have really pleased the players was one of the best game modifications ever released . We have in mind a great fan effort called STALKER Lost Alpha, which in 2014 received a number of improvements that include graphic elements, lighting, and added new effects, bringing it closer to more modern standards. The mod is still free to download.

Fortnite

Let’s move on to the legendary Fortnite event. However, it did not start as a battle-royale, the original plan was to bring players a cooperative survival with the name Fortnite: Save the Worldwhere we would build bases that would serve as safe places against waves of zombies. After the huge success of the PUBG game, Epic Games subsequently launched the mentioned battle-royale, which started an incredible influx of players and a great future. In just the first two years since its launch, the game managed to attract more than 200 million players.

Everything went literally like a fairy tale, but only until 2020, when Apple and Google together removed Fortnite Mobile from stores. This was due to a violation of the rules of these platforms after Epic Games added their own payment system to the game, which bypassed the standard 30% fee that Apple and Google require from each transaction. Practically since then, there have been several court proceedings and deliberations. We will not officially play Fortnite on iOS and Android until now in 2024 – everything was finally resolved by Epic releasing its own ESG Store application, where players can access Fortnite.

An interesting fact

Did you know that at one point in 2019, Epic Games sent Fortnite into a black hole, thanking players for their strong interest and announcing that the game was ending? It was subsequently in the black hole for about 3 days and no one knew what would happen next with the game. She eventually came right back with Chapter 2 and continues to this day.

Fortnite also went down in history with a revolutionary virtual artist concert Travise Scottawhich managed to attract more than 12 million players to the game. Epic Games transformed the entire game map into a concert arena, and players could directly participate in a massive interactive performance. Travis Scott appeared as a gigantic figure that changed the game environment according to visual effects and music. Another big milestone came with the engine change. Fortnite switched to Unreal Engine 5, and with it came support for the popular ray-tracing and DLSS. And what is the future of this brand? Let’s hope that Epic can continue to supply the game with regular updates and new content, as it is still one of the most popular PvP games today, with reportedly more than 650 million registered accounts.
