A fire broke out on Monday morning, October 7, at an oil warehouse in the city of Feodosia, located on the coast of the Crimean peninsula on the Black Sea, according to the statements of officials appointed by Moscow, Reuters informs.

The Ukrainian military confirmed that it struck an oil terminal in Feodosia, in Russian-occupied Crimea, overnight.

Hotnews.ro shows that: “The Feodosia terminal is the largest in Crimea in terms of transshipment of oil products, which were used, among other things, to meet the needs of the Russian army of occupation,” the Ukrainian military said in a statement on Telegram.

Russian officials in Crimea have declared a “technical” state of emergency in the city of Feodosia over the fire. They said there were no casualties in the incident, according to Oleg Kryuchkov, an adviser to the head of Russia installed in Crimea, who published the information on Telegram, citing the statements of the head of the Feodosia administration.

For now, no details have been provided regarding the cause of the fire. Telegram channel Baza, known for its sources within the Russian security services, reported that several fuel tanks caught fire after residents heard a series of loud explosions in Feodosia. Reuters could not independently verify the information, and Ukrainian officials have yet to comment.

In addition, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems destroyed 12 Ukrainian drones over the Crimean Peninsula. Road traffic in some parts of Feodosia has been temporarily restricted, according to statements by Russian officials in Crimea, published on social networks.

Ukrainian air and sea drone attacks on Russian military targets in Crimea have occurred frequently throughout the conflict, damaging or destroying several ships and ship repair yards in the port of Sevastopol and hitting other military targets. Moscow uses its Black Sea fleet to launch long-range strikes on Ukraine and project power into the Middle East and Europe, using Crimea as a key strategic base.
