Steam Controller 2 is on our neck, we can already show you how it will look in principle –

Valve may launch a new controller soon.

In the blessed activity of data miners, a low-res render image has recently surfaced that looks very much like it has revealed what the Steam Controller 2 will look like. The new controller, codenamed Ibex, is not yet official, but its appearance reveals a lot about Valve’s plans. Since the first Steam controller ceased production five years ago, there has been plenty of speculation and leaks, but until now there has been no concrete evidence of a successor. Now, however, it looks like Valve is ready to compete again in the PC controller market.

The leaked image was shared by famous Valve leaker Brad Lynch. The design of the new model resembles the Steam Deck controls in many ways. It has two joysticks, two trigger buttons, and two trackpads, while also containing several additional function buttons.

This is a major departure from the design of the original Steam Controller, including a smaller D-Pad and a new placement of the ABXY buttons that is better suited to the needs of today’s gamers.

Valve is said to be in the pre-production phase with the new controller, which means that while final mass production hasn’t started yet, the concept is already quite mature. The changes, if any, will probably only affect small details. The new controller is rumored to be inspired by the success of the Steam Deck and aims to become one of the best controllers in the growing PC gaming market.
