Huawei and BAIC have launched the Stelato S9, their first electric vehicle, with a starting price of $55,900. Thus, the Chinese come with a direct competitor for the executive luxury sedan Mercedes-Benz EQS but also for the American model Lucid Air.
The Stelato S9 is available in two trim levels, priced between 399,800 and 449,800 yuan (approximately $55,900 and $62,900).
The vehicle is designed to compete with established models such as the Mercedes-Benz EQS, combining technological innovations from Huawei with BAIC’s automotive manufacturing expertise.
Stelato, a joint venture between Huawei and BAIC, was launched under the umbrella of the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA). This collaboration combines the technological expertise of Huawei, a giant in the field, with the experience of BAIC, a state-owned car company in China.
Under this partnership, Huawei provides software and core components, while BAIC handles the platform and manufacturing.
The battery receives current for an autonomy of 200 KM in just 5 minutes
Huawei has implemented a similar collaboration model with other car manufacturers, such as Chery, JAC and Seres.
The Stelato S9 is available in single-engine and dual-engine versions. Maximum power is 227 kW for the single-engine version and 385 kW for the two-engine version. The latter accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
Equipped with a 100 kWh battery, the Stelato S9 offers a range of up to 816 km CLTC (Chinese test standard) for the single-motor version and 721 km CLTC for the dual-motor version.
Built on an 800 V architecture, the vehicle allows an autonomy of 200 km after just five minutes of charging.
