After STLA Medium and STLA Large here comes the STLA Framethe new Stellantis platform designed for future models that will arrive in the coming years. A mechanic that in its name already anticipates the great difference compared to its sisters. It will in fact be of type body on frameEnglish to indicate a spar platform.
A particular structure designed for SUVs, pick-ups, vans and off-road vehicles large in size, with more than one eye on the US market, where the STLA Frame will debut within a few years as the basis for Jeep and Ram models.
The models
The new Stellantis platform will be intended for the Group’s largest models, designed to accommodate lengths included between 5.48 and 5.94 meters and a step between 3.14 and 3.69 meters. Therefore certainly not for compact or medium SUVs like those marketed in Europe. The first model to use it should be the Ram 1500 REVelectric version of one of the Stellantis bestsellers in the USA.
Therefore, it is not excluded if the baptism will be held on the other side of the Atlantic also arriving in Europeeven if the Old Continent will not be the reference market. Taking up the lion’s share will be the aforementioned STLA Medium platforms (that of the Peugeot 3008, 5008 and the next Jeep Compass, just to give an example) and STLA Large, used for the first time by the new Dodge Charger Daytona and ready to debut with us with the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Giulia. The only thing missing is therefore the STLA Smallthe one that will replace the current CMP (of PSA origin) used by various small ones of the Group such as Peugeot 208, Opel Corsa and Jeep Avenger.
The specifications
Looking at the technical specifications, as mentioned, the STLA Frame will be able to accommodate different types of powertrains. Not only electric therefore, but also REEV (electric with range extender), thermal, electrified and hydrogen. A multi-energy platform therefore, exactly like the others.

As for the electric cars the new Stellantis platform provides the possibility of mounting an engine on each axis, so as to be able to have a front, rear or all-wheel drive with maximum power of 250 kW (340 HP) each. A liquid-cooled battery will power them 800 Volt architecture and ability to accept 350 kW of maximum charging power, for 800 km of maximum autonomy. Official data says that the most powerful versions will be able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds.
In the case of the presence of a heat engine responsible for recharging the batteries (therefore an electric one with range extender) the autonomy can reach 1,100 km, while the batteries will have a 400 Volt architecture and a maximum charging power of 175 kW. In both cases the ) towing capacity will be 6,350 kg while the payload will be 1,224 kg.
