Stellantis invests $400 million in the United States

Stellantis has announced an investment of more than $406 million in its three factories in Michigan, United States, for the production of electric vehicles.

As part of its Dare Forward 2030 plan, the group Stellantis will invest more than 50 billion euros in electrification over the course of this decade. A new investment of more than 406 million dollars in his three factories in Michigan, USAhas just been announced by the automotive group.

364 million euros of investment in the United States

This new investment, the equivalent of approximately 364 million euroswill help support Stellantis’ multi-energy strategy, which will enable the automaker to adapt to different electric vehicle adoption scenariosStellantis thus wants to maintain control of its products, platforms, production systems as well as supply chains.
In detail, an investment of 235.5 million dollars (approximately 211 million euros) in theusine Stellantis de Sterling Heightsin Michigan in the United States, will produce the Ram 1500 REV, Ram Truck’s first-ever electric pickup truck, which was unveiled last year at the New York International Auto Show and will go on sale by the end of 2024.
The Ram 1500 REV is based on the STLA Frame platform, and offers more than 800 kilometers of autonomy thanks to its 229 kWh battery, compatible with fast charging stations with a power of up to 130 kW, and offering bidirectional charging. Its 663 horsepower also allows it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds.

Stellantis factories are being modernized

The Stellantis Sterling Heights plant has benefited from dedicated electric vehicle facilities, with the installation of a new conveyor and a new automation system for EV-specific processes, not to mention the modernization and reorganization of assembly stations, to allow the production of thermal and electric models on the same assembly line.
L’Usine Stellantis de Warrenin Michigan in the United States, will also benefit from an investment of approximately 97.6 million dollars (approximately 88 million euros) for the production of the future electric Jeep Wagoneer. Here too, the electrified models will be produced on the same assembly line as those equipped with thermal engines: we find the Jeep Wagoneer, Wagoneer L, Grand Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer L.
Finally, theStellantis plant in Dundeein Michigan in the United States, will benefit from an investment of more than 73 million dollars (approximately 66 million euros) which will allow it to be modernized in order to assemble, weld and test the battery holders for the STLA Frame platform. This plant is also responsible for machining the front and rear cross members for the STLA Large platform.

Stellantis’ Dundee plant also produces the GME-T4 EVO engine, as well as the 1.6-liter direct-injection turbocharged I-4 engine, which will be available in hybrid models. It is scheduled to launch in 2025.
