In September, the automotive giant Stellantis offered its employees special conditions for the purchase of a Maserati car, noting that the offer is also open to their friends and relatives.
However, this move immediately caused controversy, and some politicians said that it was an insult to the dismissed workers of this company, ANSA reports.
“The offer of Stellantis to workers who have been fired to buy a Maserati at discount prices is not only an insult, it shows that it is a company in disarray,” said former Industry Minister Carlo Calenda, head of the opposition Acione party.
The representative of the Green-Left Alliance, Marco Grimaldi, said that Prime Minister Meloni must invite the company’s president John Elkan and CEO Carlos Tavares for a conversation.
He reminded that the employees of the Maserati line at the Mirafiori factory were laid off in the first quarter of the year, and then they signed a solidarity agreement with an 80 percent reduction in working hours until the end of the year.
