Stellantis produces electric vans in Italy, the first being the E-Ducato

The future of electric vans of Stellantis passes by Italy and in particular for the historic Atessa plant, in the province of Chieti, considered by the Company to be the largest and most flexible European light commercial vehicle (LCV) plant. From its lines will emerge the new generations of Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Jumper, Opel Movano e Vauxhall Movano.

Inaugurating the new production line is the cab version of the E-Ducato. Thanks also to this new product offering the plant has increased shifts of production from 2 to 2.5, confirming the good momentum of Stellantis Pro One, the business unit dedicated to LCVs which is enjoying commercial success at a global level.

We also remember that the investment in Atessa for the production of BEV vehicles is an integral part of Stellantis industrial plan in Italy and marks a further step in the realization of the strategic plan of Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 which provides for a 50% reduction in carbon emissions compared to 2021 and with the aim of transforming itself, by 2038, into a technological reality of mobility with zero net carbon emissions.

The start of production in Atessa is a reaffirmation of centrality of the system in the strategy of Stellanti Pro One which here assembles the majority of large vans which, in turn, represent the 30% of all sales of vans of the Group.

I large from electrical produced in Atessa are the second generation of BEV propulsion capable of offering the best EV autonomy in the category (up to 420 km) with a 110 kWh battery and a 150 kW fast charging system.

The Atessa production plant, founded in 1979 as a joint venture between FIAT and PSA-Peugeot Citroën, entered into function in 1981 near Chieti. Covering over 1.2 million square metres, this iconic plant represents the largest and most flexible light commercial vehicle plant in Europe, with the capacity to produce up tooa 1,200 andicles per day. Currently, 80% of production is exported to 75 countries.

The Fiat Professional Ducato

The Duchy has a strong presence at European level being the first van of Stellantis with a market share of 11.2% in its segment. In Italy it reaches 24%, in France it ranks second in its segment as the first large van from Stellantis.

Also on the podium in second place in Poland, as well as in Spain and Portugal where it occupies third position in the segment. As regards the camper segment, the Ducato is still the leader in Europe with a growth of 5 percentage points compared to last year and with 70% of use as a camper base.

Fiat Professional E-Ducato 2024

The new E-Ducato represents a step forward in the offering of the Fiat Professional brand, presenting an electric solution with few compromises. Designed entirely in-house, it is equipped with the new 110 kWh second generation battery, guaranteeing the best zero-emission experience in the category, also thanks to an autonomy of up to 424 km in the WLTP cycle.
