Still 2 months to go until Huawei’s first triple phone arrives

Directly Huawei betrays its willingness to challenge the foldable phone market again, with rumors swirling around the imminent release of the world’s first triple-folding phone. From tipster reports Fixed Focus Digital, we learn that the device is expected to be released within two months from today.

The source also notes that this upcoming convertible will be expensive and produced in limited quantities. However, the leak suggests that Huawei’s three-pronged device may be more of a demo device rather than achieving outright market dominance.

New and innovative products often come with a high price tag, but the expectation is that as the technology matures and production scales up, the price will naturally come down.

Again relying on this source, we read that with this particular smartphone, perhaps some believe it will replace both the iPad and the current foldable phones on the market. Whether this ambition translates into reality remains to be seen.

Not much has been revealed by the tipster about the phone’s specifications, but a report earlier this month suggested an overall screen size of around 10 inches. The phone’s design is rumored to incorporate a unique dual hinge system, creating three separate display sections.

One section is said to fold inward on both sides, while the other folds outward. Also the creasing issue, it’s a persistent problem with foldable screens, but it can be improved quite a bit on this device.

Other than that, we don’t know much about the capabilities of the upcoming triple device. However, Huawei’s search for a trifold phone has been a long one. They started filing patents for this technology in 2021with more filings in 2022. Another patent filed in February 2023 shows a tri-folding phone with two hinges and a flexible screen that folds out — like the one we mentioned earlier.
